Earlier this year, we received a critical commentary from a faithful reader of Geisha Diaries, bashing Geisha Affair in the article, “Geisha Affair Blows Away Eros”. We shall refer to this person as ‘Anonymous’.
Anonymous seems disturbed with the notion that someday Geisha Affair (GA) will charge for its services
Unless it is a charitable foundation what business does not charge for its services? Anonymous fails to recognize any way of promoting GA other than by expending considerable amounts of money on paid advertisements even though GA does not currently charge for membership, despite various, parallel marketing avenues available at no cost. Thus, should we contact Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Geisha Diaries and ask them to please make us pay for use of their otherwise, free services?
Anonymous has dismissed our word of mouth strategy because it represents neither an expense nor an exponential method of growth. But then, how to you justify multimillion dollar companies and businesses in general that encourage and appreciate customer referrals?
You, Anonymous, disregard the importance of our participation in message boards and chat forums perhaps because you don’t understand the importance of interacting with your fellow Community
Contrary to your belief, GA takes an avid interest in learning and understanding issues that impact the Community. In doing so, we may be able to present advice, alternatives or better options to make life easier for those amongst us. However, according to you all of our efforts are nullified unless we spend money on every available advertisement means. We could have never hired you as our CEO because your expertise would have already seen the demise of GA with your ignorance about cost benefit.
On the other hand, GA will never surprise its members out of the blue with advertising rates whether in 3 months, one year or 5 years as they have been published since day one on the website. GA features ‘Free Trial Membership’ right along with advertising rates disclosed in full view. See below and go here to view GA rates.
Incidentally, we do have members who already pay for their membership because they choose to contribute to the website. GA has taken part of those earnings to contribute to the fight against Breast Cancer. Is any other company in this industry doing so?
GA has staffed 24/7, paid customer service personnel in 3 continents - Europe, South America and the USA
Submit an email with any concern, question or new profile at 3:00 am in any time meridian and you will be attended. No. This service does not directly leverage traffic to the website but it dramatically increases customer satisfaction which becomes an indelible attribute in the long run. A satisfied member is a happy member who will feel confident to refer new members.
Finally, Anonymous, you are correct. While the aesthetics and charm of the website do not increase traffic they characterize the storefront of the site. Such elegance rightfully portrays our members with class, uniqueness and respect unless you find tacky, pay-per-click sex web cam banners surrounding paid advertiser’s profiles more attractive.
Meeshee of Meeshee Photography, contrary to your belief is not the owner of Geisha Affair
Rather, she is the Senior Marketing Director and GA makes use of her professionalism and expertise to handle our marketing efforts. Her success with Meeshee Photography was granted by her clients. She has earned her reputation and this kind of professionalism ranks high within GA.
Recently, Geisha Affair retained the services of Pepper Law Group (this was not a pro bono retainer) to deal with a dark situation impacting our Community. The case involved another “competitor” stealing provider’s profiles and identities, abusing people’s trust and even ruining their personas. Go here to read about it. With more than 13 years in the market and knowing the ins and outs of the industry,
Where were Eros and other competitors standing on this issue?
Who besides GA has been pro active about this situation? Eros, Backpage, etc. remain mute because they are more concerned about the cha-ching of their cash registers. Through our efforts we have shown the Community that they are not alone. Companions have someone to turn to when their rights have been violated.
I recommend that you pay a visit to Geisha Affair and reach out to any of our worldwide members to see if they have any complaints about GA. Ask them how difficult it is to upload photos, for instance. Have you experienced the hassle of uploading, cutting, trimming, cropping and resizing photos with the competition? That doesn’t happen at GA. Ask any member how long it took for their profile to be approved. For your information, it takes less than ten minutes, not 48-72 hours.
Finally, we don’t yet boast the mass traffic of Eros for one simple and understandable reason: GA is new in the market. Unfortunately, for you our name is buzzing around the world. Otherwise, how do you explain the fact that we have increasing members in Russia, France, Romania, Hungary, Germany, Italy, China, Japan, Singapore, Mexico, Jamaica, Australia, USA and Canada among others? Providers from all walks of life are drawn to GA - female escorts, male escorts, T-girls, True Mistresses & BDSM/Fetish, sugar babies, agencies and massage parlours. Do you think that GA steals profiles or forces members to join?
Freedom of expression is the cornerstone of Geisha Diaries and the backbone of Geisha Affair
Just think about who would publish your negative comments on their own website. Geisha Diaries welcome your thoughts and if they are negative we will challenge you with facts. So thank you very much for participating in Geisha Diaries and feel free to stop by anytime.

To be perfectly honest, eros doesnt do as well as they use to do on any end. There are only a few sites now days that are still up for just as long if not longer than sites like eros that girls actually benefit from. All new sites should just prove their value on all points of veiws and actual feedback before charging. Times are hard coming from someone whos been on the lines for 10 years, theres way too many sites charging and not performing as they should be. Too many ppl are asking for money when the sites dont even bring any in. There are ways for new and existing ad sites to advertise free or inexpensively for you as well as us. Girls dont like ppl always asking us for money, thats the new school way there are ways for everybody to win but its the sites that need to do the creative research in order to earn that payment just like everybody else.
On another note, your site looks great and i hope patience with the times and the beginers as well as the professionals pays off for you because in all reality the industry does need more nation wide online societies where there are tools for both gentlemen and ladies to get the info they need to enjoy a safe and satisfying experience wherever we all may be or may go. Myredbook.com is a personal favorite just wish it was nation wide. P411 and eccie are a couple other general ideas you may want to keep in mind. Good luck!
People will always bitch, I'd take the attack as a good sign.
Personally I really don't think I'm alone in welcoming a site which has the potential of toppling Eros in the market place. People are really thirsty for that and I hope Geisha Affair is a great successor to the Eros financial behemoth.
And what business isa business without the eventual goal - at least - of making money? Duh. If you're not in business to make money primarily, you're nuts.
Good luck to Geisha Diaries!
Tamara G x
Secret - you are correct. There are countless sites that charge (and they're not inexpensive) but don't deliver. They will fall between the cracks as this is simply a process of attrition. Geisha Affair is a vast and intricate website that was in the making for quite some time prior to going public. The site was designed with the best interest of its users in mind and not as an advertising mill for pop ups and pay-per-click ads that compete with users. GA has been built to withstand the times and run by a group of folks who really know what they're doing and have a genuine concern for its members and those in the industry.
Tamara - thank you for the warm welcome. I think we all know that anything of worth takes time to develop. People who take the time to bitch are usually a good indication that what they are complaining about has something good to offer.
Naturally, we're all in business to make money or we wouldn't be in business. But there should exist reciprocity between business owner and end user, not motivated by greed. That is our philosophy.
Hello,
Pleased to see that GA is not charging yet, since they don't seem to have much traffic yet. I do agree that the style of the site is certainly one that speaks of class, and far and away surpasses most of the fly-by-night sites, and that is promising.
I'd be interested to hear about what methods the site is using/planning to use to get -clients- to the site. Since it mostly seems, so far, to be more interested in provider-side advertising.
I also feel that the comparison to Eros, and the negative comments about -their- business model to be a bit disingenuous. At least when Eros first came out, they made a huge splash, spent a ton on client-side advertising, and got their name -known-. They are still the number one google hit for 'escort, <city>' in almost every city in the country. Tons of clients who had never heard of online escort directories hit Eros first. And there is, or at least was, a value even to the high cost of advertising, since it put the Eros ads in a special class, with a ton of demand and extremely limited supply, and most of the clients naive to the trade. It was a goldmine.
More recently, especially post the CL flap, it feels Eros has been letting the brand kind of die, and is now just coasting on the proceeds of their notoriety. There are a lot of sites, and many clients have heard enough about online escort searching to be savvy enough to shop around a bit. The heyday of Eros has passed, and I think that the ads are now no longer all that worth the costs.
But I'm unconvinced that GA is the next wave. It doesn't seem to be doing anything really new aside from some feel-good hand-waving in the direction of providers. But it won't be worth providers paying for the service unless you can -also- get, and keep, the attention of the clients. The role of a directory is to act as our -agents- of sorts. To act as an intermediary between providers and clients. Effectively, to advertise for us. So, feel-good niceties aside, whether you can convince clients to answer the phone will be the prime deciding factor in whether or not your site will succeed.
I guess we'll see. I know that if your site isn't kicking by the time you do start charging, then providers will leave you in droves.
Gwyneth – as the article states, we are talking 13 years in the market versus 6 months. GA is managed on the premise of great service and ad value. Every day, GA members and visitors increase with accelerating volume which will convert into clients for our advertisers. GA plans to become the best advertising alternative for all providers.
Glad to hear it.
I'd also like to add that, looking back over my post, I make reference to 'feel-good hand waving'. I'd like to say that though I don't see such things really helping out in drawing new clients who don't already frequent free or cheap ad sites to the site(what I'd be paying for), I -do- agree strongly with the ethic that you've shown so far, on these Diaries. On that level alone, I say keep up the good work, and I look forward to seeing what you do in the future.
Gwenyth - you've got some good things to say, lady. There will always be those in life whether in this industry or any other, who look for freebies and that's okay. In fact, GA ad pricing is not 'elite' but 'attainable'. We realized how important this is given today's tough, economic struggle. You can’t receive without first giving genuinely, mind you, kind of like in a relationship. We believe that applying the same principals to GA as those which we apply in our personal lives is the key to the success of any business. Maybe it was different 13 years ago but so were the times. Heck, we didn’t even have Face book, Twitter or Smart Phones back then! As the owner of Meeshee Photography, I have had the fortunate pleasure of getting to know many clients as friends and it's been and remains a joy. I just can't work any other way. And now, I get to share those same principals with GA. No, it doesn't happen overnight, but what worth having does? Along the way, many ladies have confided in me about their frustrations and dislikes with the competition, even faxing me astronomical invoices - "Please get GA going!" That is how I became aware that it's a lot more about building a functional site that brings you guys business. Though it might not seem like it now, it's a lot about caring service and how good clients feel about the presence of the site. In today's big, anonymous world, people want to know that they are cared about. The bottom line is that the competition does not have the best interest of the provider in mind, but rather their own pocket books, even if advertising with them does bring you clients. What choice to you guys have? Folks are still left wanting more. I'm talking principal.
Herein lies the reason why I founded Geisha Diaries - as the Voice of Geisha Affair - to act as a platform for expressing the voices in our Community and what they have to say. Geisha Diaries echoes the philosophy that is the foundation of GA - in the form of words that are true. This is the 'ethic' about which you speak. Folks know that Diaries is the Voice of GA. It takes more than a few advertising dollars to build a site such as GA that will stand its ethical ground in the long run. GA is built and operated to last.
In the near future, we have big plans for getting hobbyists involved but for that you’ll have to stay tuned. As a result, GA will become the trusted, ethical advertising vehicle built on the voices of the Community that everyone only imagines. GA is not out to rape you with crazy fees but rather fuel your business by bringing in the clients that you need. Join GA, tell all your friends, we'll take care of the rest.
It takes a village to build something great and you guys are just that. xoxo
I read anonymous' criticism. I did not take her as bashing GA so much as pointing out some valid issues.
The Google-domination of Eros IS the biggest stumbling block for ANY new advertising mall. This has been true for years, though with some of the ways that Google is changing its algorithms, the game could change too. (Nor does Eros dominate every single city.)
GA will not be viable until clients are flocking there. Yes, that takes time to build but it's also a valid and important point.
I don't think her issue was with GA charging money per se, but questioning the value of doing that right now. It's not bashing, it's a question.
Unsolicited emails do indeed annoy escorts. Sure it generates clicks and awareness, but at what cost? That does need to be considered.
The ideas behind GA are why I hope it succeeds and why I hope it can become successful and expand to offer the range of services to escorts that are planned. Eros brings clients. GA intends on supporting escorts (and already has) throughout their personal and professional lives with information and services. This is worth a few growing pains.
GA does not need to feel "bashed" because it wasn't attacked, merely questioned. If anonymous has a little patience, she may well be pleasantly surprised. That's what I'm hoping for!

Congratulations, a strategy that involves Geisha Just Telling The Truth, The Whole Truth and Nothing Else But The Truth is a wise enlightened decision that likely will pay dividends long into the future
Amanda - we all know that GA is not charging now and has given no indication as to when it will start charging. We're patient and excited that GA is growing by leaps and bounds, around the world, every day. This growth will lead into clients.
Nowhere in Anonymous’ commentary was there a question, whether literal or tonal, about the 'value' of GA charging now:
Anonymous is ‘...fairly certain that the site will charge a rate similar to any other escort mall of similar popularity...’ [this is not a question]
Anonymous sites Meeshee Photography as ‘...a great example because she has ‘more than doubled her photography fees...’.
GA states clearly on the website (see the screen shot in the article) and in our article that fees are in fact, clearly stated for all to see. Sorry but that’s a bash as was the overall tone of her commentary and that's ok. Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
In terms of emails, people are always free to unsubscribe to GA emails or any other emails that they don't like receiving.
Yes, GA is on an upward path toward success. It’s just a matter of time and we appreciate everyone’s support!
Natalie - thanks for the support!!!
I hope you can understand why some of the women are not happy with the spam emails. The problem has been mentioned on a few message boards whenever the subject of Meeshee, and or Gesha affair comes up.Many of these providers payed well for a service, and ended up feeling bombarded with emails from Meeshee asking that they please go on the message boards, and help create a buzz for Meeshee and or Geisha affair.
The advice given to providers on here is to invest money back into your own business. Maybe Geisha affair needs to follow their own advice, and stop relying on spam emails to create a buzz. It really does pay to advertise, and a few well placed banners for Geisha affair will help to send more male viewers their way.
I agree with all of you that eros could use some competition I just do not feel from what I have seen, and read so far that Geisha will be it. From what I have heard Eros guide also offered free advertising when new, but even when new I can remember seeing ads for Eros in many places. If Geisha wants to challenge Eros maybe now is the time to invest their own money in their own business. Or maybe everyone can expect a mass email from Meeshee pretty soon asking all her close escort friends if they want to invest in Geisha Affair for them.
Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither was Eros.
Give Geisha Affair a break, it takes time for any product to rise to the top in a new market, usually, and this is not an easy market to crack (escorting).
By encouraging good will amongst escorts, compared to the major ill will felt toward Eros by escorts, Geisha Affair is going a long way toward encouraging clients to favour it, too. Eros has been top dog in the escorting market for a lot of years and a lot of people would like to see it otherwise - extortionate fees and erratic returns being one major reason.
If Geisha can consistently deliver good clients in this very difficult economic time, then it will enjoy major success. It would be nice for that to happen overnight, but I don't think that's likely. Meantime Geisha Affair is a very welcome addition to the market place and a lot of people would like to see it succeed!
Tamara G x
I don't really consider the emails spam, they keep me coming back for more great articles.
Geisha Affair has the potential to grow into something much bigger someday.
Its escort friendly, we love it, its peaked our curiosity--And that alone will help the clients to find their way to it eventually; It's all through the grapevine! :)
Grapevines are good for so many things! :-D
For six years I have been in this business off and on, more off than on, and as such am relatively newly "back out" again, and am still getting a feel for the always new and different "landscape" such as it is currently. I tried Eros to a costly no avail for me personally, but that may have more to do with my location than anything else. Thanks to an irritating case of insomnia I have for the first time scanned this site and read several of the "diary" posts, but am still very new to the site overall. Before I (hopefully) retire for the evening finally, I'd like to contribute my two cents regarding this sites' potential: From the inception of my career as a provider I have longed for and even dreamed of a way for Independents to "unionize," for lack of a better term, for the purpose of promoting our safety, well-being, and fellowship, the last one of which is very difficult to come by in this competitive and cut-throat economy we all find ourselves in. But I'd like to applaud what I have seen thus far as some attempt toward that where I know of no other. But in this site's evolution, I'd like to see two sides develop, the client side, for the purpose of perpetuating the dialogue/business between client and provider, and an exclusive provider side, where we might come to interact with one another as comrades, privately and safely. Why should clients be privy to provider diary entries? But, I'm old enough to understand that what I've always longed for in that sense is ultimately an impossibility. I don't dare enter the "ladies' rooms" of some other sites that I have access to because I'm not into descending into viper pits. Many of us are compassionate by nature and would welcome the chance to enjoin with our sisters to uplift us all. But many, maybe even many more have become so jaded, cynical, hateful, cold and/or outright desperate that, rather than viewing other ladies of their same ilk as fellow "sisters," they can only see them as competitors or adversaries otherwise. It's a sad fact to which I have had to resign myself. Which leaves me with no girlfriends to REALLY "talk shop" with (double life and all), a very lonely existence indeed, but one to which I've become accustomed. Nonetheless I applaud what I sense is the primary intent of the guardians of this site, and I hope one day we'll realize our strength in numbers as we long should have by now. I'll probably be long gone if and when this ever occurs, and meanwhile I find myself forced to keep to myself for the most part, careful to make no enemies and remain relatively under the radar. Even with many of the diary entries I read tonight, I could have commented from with my own differing perspective, but won't dare to offend anyone unnecessarily. The weight of the world is on my shoulders in that I am THE provider for my precious family, and therefore must focus on doing that to the best of my abilities while I'm able, although I've often thought that once my kids are grown I'd like to become an advocate for sex workers in the U.S. It pisses me off that HBO runs "Cathouse," where those ladies are virtually jailed while working there on top of giving at least half of their earnings to the establishment, and that so many "normal" people watch that with intense voyeurism (though they'd never admit it), while I'm relegated to second class citizenry for exercising my sexuality as I see fit. We're so schizophrenic about sex in this country--We use it to sell hamburgers on the one hand while readily burning at the stake any woman who elects to take charge of her own sexuality in the manner we here have on the other! So hypocritical, but not much isn't these days it seems. Sorry for so many digressions. I'm deliriously tired and ticked off that the sandman hasn't arrived. Normally I would have been asleep hours ago! Too foggy to proofread this, so please forgive any typos or rambling--This may not even be read since it's so far down on the entries. Thanks for reading, and, GA, thanks for being here, wishing you the utmost success, sincerely.
Love out to you ALL, Lynn
Adrina - I really enjoyed reading your post and couldn't agree with you more. It is unfortunate and ironic that there is so much rivalry in an industry where ladies really should ban together more. Of course, we can't always bond with everyone we meet in any walk of life. But I myself have found those who I consider to be friends among us and I hope you have found the same.
Geisha Affair is actively in the process of establishing an exclusive, networking forum by popular demand. It is being carefully planned in such a way to promote healthy interaction between provider/hobbyist while preserving the reputations and safety of all by implementing a referral system for membership (GA members will automatically participate).
Geisha Diaries has long been considering an all ladies forum, one in which we can let our hair down so to speak and just be ourselves without the guys around. As our ToDo List is miles long, it will happen but all good things take time. Hopefully, you'll be here to participate!
I would just like to say that I see nothing but positive growth in the future for Geisha Affairs. You actually care about the providers, your sites are absolutely amazing and everything you do is simply elegant and classy. I see not but positive growth in the very near future. Thank you so much for helping the providers out on every level, it means a lot that a site sees us as individuals rather than just a # or Dollar Signs. I have nothing but awesome things to say about GA!
xoxo
Gemma :-)
Gemma -thanks so much for your support! It means everything. Nowadays, we are seeing new members increase on a daily basis in volume like never before. Clients/hobbyists know about Geisha Affair and that awareness is spreading and translating into business. There is an increasing trend of companions informing their clients of Geisha Affair, its advantages and some who are even sitting down to show them how to navigate the site, post free reviews, etc. Word-of-mouth carries the most influence and this is what we are seeing.
Thanks, Doll!
xoxo
I APPLAUD GA's efforts to create something new. And this venture IS new. In order to create the myth, we need a united front and it starts with the woman's willingness to be part of a new solution. If we truly want to reap the benefits of a feminist, provocative and lucrative site for women I think we should try and suspend our cynicism and wait out the growing pains. If we all loath TER, EROS and so on, here is an perfect opportunity to create the reality we want.
I see absolutely nothing wrong with GA wanting to prosper from all their hard work. Why is this something that should be resented? They are women just like us who wish to have some financial security. I would much prefer to pay them vs these male owned, misogynist pimps that make more money off of us than we do ourselves. I think it should be a challenge to usurp these bloated and ineffectual dinosaurs.
I realize that GA is in it's infancy and I for one am willing to invest in it as I am curious and hopeful about the outcome. In any event, for now I am a believer and I believe that I am betting on a potentially
successful venture.
Best,
Ms Grey
While I completely understand the cost of running a site and the need to pay memberships to use forums and be apart of the community, I do have a problem with several escort sites.
The problem is most sites are trying to make their living off "the escorts back" Eros charges both the client and the escort, charges for each city the escort tours, and promotes bad behavior in men with the "available now feature" that makes men assume they can call at the last minute and get an appointment with no screening.
Verify him only gets you results 1 out of 10 searches, and requires you to ask the client a million questions that freak him out. However if you use beenverified.com all you need is a clients full name, age, city and state and you get results 99% of the time, and can even check his home address and criminal record.
1,000 of sites are opening everyday, and they do not advertise to the client, they simply SPAM all the escort ads, because they think the ladies are too dumb to know which sites have traffic. Look at cityvibe and adult search, they want the same price as backpage and very few clients know they exist. No site will ever climb ahead of Back page, and while I do not care for BP but it is the cheapest and has more traffic than any other site. . The only other site that is close to BP is TER, however be prepared to have the bottom of the barrel of clients contacting you from this site. Any escort with a decent website, a few good reviews and a few ads can make her phone ring, but to me its about what kind of clients I am attracting, and I find more well mannered respectful men from date-check than any other site around.
I love date-check.com they have been around for over 10 years and are FREE for the escort, and also provide a safe dating experience by their screening services. To me the most important detail in marketing is the escort name, and the name of her website and if she has an email adddress that is just as easy to remember.
E-mail Spam: Personally I'm not in favor of it. The men I know don't like it, either. An email here and there is OK, but constant pestering in my inbox is a distraction that does not benefit me.
Other ladies as competitors: Of course by nature other women are our 'competitors,' but I have never personally viewed other women as a threat; neither personally or professionally. Ultimately, the man is going to choose who he wants. The men I am with choose because I'M ME. There is only one of me. It's just as important to have a sense of sisterhood with other companions as it is to have girlfriends in our personal lives; we can learn from each other! In the bigger long-term picture, we reap greater benefits from forming those alliances.
Geisha Diaries charging providers: I don't have a problem with charging for membership - it's a business, not a Non-Profit Organization. I will likely purchase a membership after I familiarize myself with the website a little further.
Word of Mouth: I will certainly tell my friends about this site. Like me, they don't know what they are missing...yet.
Thank You Geisha Diaries :)
