I had the same problem, but after using the logitech connection utility software to sync with a different receiver the issue seems to be fixed even with the original receiver. It's overtly sensitive and jumps around, it's definitely not precise I would describe it as just "fast but jerky" and I'm pretty conviced that's due to the magnetic wheel tech they are using, it just doesn't register every turn and once it's going really fast it looses control.
